Intro Post

It's a Torchwood community! I'm sure Dreamwidth already has one--in fact, I know Dreamwidth already has one--but I still thought creating this wouldn't be a complete waste of time. Everything I've read about The New World sounds like RTD and Julie Gardner are trying to give the show a do-over regarding tone and content, in the spirit of Children of Earth. So I'd like to make this comm about the "new" Torchwood, rather than have it be a continuation of previously established Torchwood fandom communities.

This doesn't mean that you're not welcome if you were previously involved in Torchwood fandom, or still are. Everyone is welcome; come on in! Essentially, this is a place to discuss the new series, to share theories, articles, and fanworks, and it doesn't matter if you're an "old" fan, or if you've discovered Torchwood with Children of Earth or even with the New World 'reboot'. If you're excited about Torchwood: The New World, this is the place for you.

As my username indicates, I'm Teyla, your friendly neighborhood mod. I've been closely following all the news about The New World that have been cropping up all over the internet, and I cannot wait for it to start airing. Everything I've been hearing about it sounds excellent. Bring on summer 2011, I say.

As for my fannish history, I've been always more in the Doctor Who than the Torchwood boat. However, I was a big fan of what the production team did with Children of Earth, and since my interest in Doctor Who has been waning lately, I am now hoping for The New World to renew my fannish excitement about the franchise.

Also, Rhys Williams owns a special place in my heart. I just thought I should mention that.
